What is it?
If you drive for a ridesharing company, our Ridesharing Endorsement extends all of the protection offered under your policy, including Collision and Comprehensive coverage, to covered incidents that occur during the period of time that begins when you turn on your ridesharing app and ends when you accept a passenger (sometimes known as “Period 1”).
Do I need it?
While most ridesharing companies provide insurance, there can still be gaps in coverage, particularly during Period 1. Our Ridesharing Endorsement is an easy way to protect yourself and your vehicle if you drive for companies like Uber or Lyft.
What is NOT covered?
There is no coverage provided after you accept a passenger (sometimes known as “Period 2”) and when a passenger is riding in your vehicle (sometimes known as “Period 3”). Coverage is also not provided for activities like food or other product delivery or shared-expense carpooling.
Tom rear-ended Susan while driving for Uber. Tom had the Uber app on but had not accepted a passenger. Tom's Ridesharing Endorsement pays for damage to his vehicle, minus his Collision deductible.
